About the Artist

Anna Tomtania,

is an African American who was born in Togo, West Africa and grew up in the state of Connecticut.

"I am the eldest of three siblings and spent much of my childhood immersed in literature, volunteering, and practicing art and music. As a mainly self-taught artist with a love for story-telling, I use illustration as a way to connect with others and express myself.

I experienced a lot of pain as a kid struggling with my identity and my purpose as a human being. Through my work, I aim to relate to those in similar situations and share the hope I am so blessed and  grateful to have."
